🦌 Mr. Otte's Buck Contest 2025 Wrap-Up
Mr. Otte's 2025 Buck Contest came to a close, but not before 17 successful hunters harvested their bucks!
After a drawing by Mr. Otte and Ms. VanKeuren, with all the hunters gathered to hear the results, Miles Seward's name was drawn as the lucky recipient of a free buck mount, courtesy of Mr. Otte.
Congratulations to all the hunters on your harvest and on a safe and successful 2025 hunting season! Check out all of this year's entries in Mr. Otte's Buck Contest event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1157011443033531/?active_tab=discussion

Inventors in grades 4-6 welcomed fellow students of all grades to their Invention Fair held at the Pioneer Cafeteria yesterday. Students unleashed their creativity as they invented games, cat feeders, fishing reel covers, organization solutions, more. It was so fun to see the students interacting, explaining, demonstrating, asking questions, and engaging with not only their peers, but staff as well!

Remember wishing you could be OLDER? Pierz Healy High School Theater Department and Pierz Instrument Music Department present, "Freaky Friday, The Musical," on stage November 13th and 14th at 7PM and November 16th at 2PM. All performances in the PAC.

What an incredibly powerful and moving Veterans Day program we had today. Our students and staff gathered to honor the brave men and women who have served our country, and the respect shown was truly outstanding.
The ceremony began with a solemn and respectful presentation of the colors by the local chapter of the American Legion Post 341. Our talented musicians filled the auditorium, with the band, directed by Mr. Pohland, playing a beautiful selection of pieces, and the choir, directed by Mr. Bebeau, delivering a moving vocal performance. The program also featured heartfelt presentations, including poems and stories read by our student and staff presenters.
We were honored to welcome Major Blake St. Sauver, a proud Pierz Healy High School graduate from the class of 2003, as our guest speaker. Major St. Sauver joined the Minnesota Army National Guard during his senior year, was commissioned as an officer in 2007, and has served for 22 years, Major St. Sauver also deployed to
Kuwait in 2015 as the 682nd Engineer Battalion’s Assistant Operations Officer, and again in 2024 to
Baghdad, Iraq as a Strike Director in support of Operational Inherent Resolve. His inspiring speech was particularly relatable to our students as he spoke about the strong community we all get to be a part of and the gifts of service, stewardship, and values that being a part of the Pierz community brings to each of us.
A special moment came when our younger children, who had carefully crafted cards, were able to personally pass them out to every veteran in attendance, bringing smiles and warmth to the room.
The level of reverence displayed by the hundreds of students in grades 4-12 was remarkable, culminating in a moment of profound silence. Pierz Healy High School FFA students meticulously and reverently folded the flag, and when "Taps" was played by student trumpet player Erin Thesing and the American Legion Post 341 retired the colors, the entire gymnasium of 100s of students and staff was soundless—a powerful testament to the deep respect our students and community hold for our veterans.
Thank you to everyone who participated and attended. We are so proud of our students and so grateful to our veterans and their families. We will never forget your service.

Pioneer Elementary fifth graders had the opportunity to turn the tables last week when they became the teachers! Students along with their band director, Mr. Mathwig, invited their parents into the bandroom for a concert and the chance to learn from their expert students! Students spent time with their families, teaching them to play 'Hot, Cross, Buns'. When time was up, the parents put on a 'concert', showcasing their newly learned skills. This years fifth graders boast the biggest band on record, with over 90 students joining!

🐮 Elementary and high school students team up to "Adopt" a Cow! 🐄
How cool is this?! Students in Ms. Gotvald's Intro to Agriculture class at Healy recently teamed up with Mrs. Kotta's kindergarten class to participate in the "Adopt a Cow" program!
The classes learned all about their adopted calf, a sweet girl named "Lady Liberty," who was born on September 3rd on a dairy farm in Albany!
As a memento, the classes get to keep a stuffed cow (check out the front row in the group picture ) and will meet again in two weeks to share more photos and updates of Lady Liberty as she grows.
These learning experiences across grade levels is another benefit of having all of our students under one roof!

Lions International Peace Poster Contest Winners Announced!
This week, the winners of this year's Lions International Peace Poster Contest were awarded. The theme, "Together As One," inspired six talented students from Pierz Schools to submit their unique artistic interpretations of those powerful words.
A big congratulations to our top three winners:

The Pierz Healy Fabrics & Textiles class had the opportunity to experience the The Old Creamery Quilt Shop in Randall during their field trip this week.
Students were able to browse a wide variety of fabrics, see different quilt styles and patterns, and even purchase fabric and batting for their first project. The staff at the Old Creamery Quilt Shop were incredibly informative, helpful, and gracious hosts, taking time to explain materials, tools, and fabrics--thank you! Students had a great time exploring what a quilt shop looks like and learning about the artistry and craftsmanship behind quilting.
We were able to connect classroom learning to real-world experiences and everyone came back excited to start creating!

Huge thanks to our dedicated art volunteers, Mary and Bridget, for making this happen. The students read a story to the residents and then teamed up for a fun art project!
It was a beautiful morning of connection, creativity, and smiles all around.--across generations. What a great way to show our students the power of community service! #pioneerpride
