🐮 Elementary and high school students team up to "Adopt" a Cow! 🐄
How cool is this?! Students in Ms. Gotvald's Intro to Agriculture class at Healy recently teamed up with Mrs. Kotta's kindergarten class to participate in the "Adopt a Cow" program!
The classes learned all about their adopted calf, a sweet girl named "Lady Liberty," who was born on September 3rd on a dairy farm in Albany!
As a memento, the classes get to keep a stuffed cow (check out the front row in the group picture ) and will meet again in two weeks to share more photos and updates of Lady Liberty as she grows.
These learning experiences across grade levels is another benefit of having all of our students under one roof!

Lions International Peace Poster Contest Winners Announced!
This week, the winners of this year's Lions International Peace Poster Contest were awarded. The theme, "Together As One," inspired six talented students from Pierz Schools to submit their unique artistic interpretations of those powerful words.
A big congratulations to our top three winners:

🥈 2nd Place: Zoey Varner
🥉 3rd Place: Roman Wacker
All participants received a fantastic art kit, and our top three students also walked away with cash prizes, courtesy of the Pierz Lions Club!
A huge thank you to all the students who dedicated their time and talent to submit their amazing works of art.
Finally, a special shout-out to Tracy Voigt and the Pierz Lions Club for their continuous work and support of our students and community. We appreciate you!

The Pierz Healy Fabrics & Textiles class had the opportunity to experience the The Old Creamery Quilt Shop in Randall during their field trip this week.
Students were able to browse a wide variety of fabrics, see different quilt styles and patterns, and even purchase fabric and batting for their first project. The staff at the Old Creamery Quilt Shop were incredibly informative, helpful, and gracious hosts, taking time to explain materials, tools, and fabrics--thank you! Students had a great time exploring what a quilt shop looks like and learning about the artistry and craftsmanship behind quilting.
We were able to connect classroom learning to real-world experiences and everyone came back excited to start creating!

Huge thanks to our dedicated art volunteers, Mary and Bridget, for making this happen. The students read a story to the residents and then teamed up for a fun art project!
It was a beautiful morning of connection, creativity, and smiles all around.--across generations. What a great way to show our students the power of community service! #pioneerpride

Students in Ms. Welle's STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) classes are programming Spheros to get a hole-in-one in their mini golf course!

Last week, Colette Fitterer, RN, with the Take Heart America organization, volunteered to again teach our 8th and 10th grade health classes the life-saving practice of hands-only CPR along with how to use the AED machine. Thank you to Colette and the Take Heart organization for this opportunity!

Each month during the school year, teachers nominate students from the Class of 2026. Congratulations to September Students of the Month, Addie Thielen and Madelyn Kessler! https://www.pierzschools.org/page/students-of-the-month

The Pierz varsity tennis team knocked off the #6 ranked team in Class A and the #2 seed Pequot Lakes in the Section 7A Semifinals last night 4-3. They will now play in the Section Finals on Thursday at the Sta-Fit Gym in Sartell versus the # 1 seed Pine City.
Good Luck and Go Pioneers!

Our FACS department (Family and Consumer Science—yes, we still sew!) received 9 large boxes of fabric scraps and spools of thread!
This generous gift means our students have tons of material for their sewing projects, including their popular quilt-making class. We love partnering with a local company that values community and recycling. Thank you, Lakeshirts, for supporting our students' creativity and skills!

Mr. Brisk's CNC Cutting and Fabrication class finished their first projects last week: metal signs they designed and engineered themselves. This project goes beyond just cutting metal. It shows that our students have mastered:
Computer-Aided Design (CAD): Creating the blueprint for their signs.
CNC Programming: Translating that design into code for the machine.
Plasma Table Operation: Safely and accurately using a powerful tool that cuts metal with a jet of plasma gas.
These are the high-tech, real-world skills that employers in manufacturing and engineering are looking for. Way to go students and Mr. Brisk! #PioneerPride #CareerTechEd
