Pierz Schools officially launched a heartfelt new tradition on Thursday, September 17th, as high school seniors gathered at the Pioneer football field to meet the kindergarten Class of 2039 from Pioneer Elementary and Holy Trinity. Excitement filled the air during 4th hour when the high schoolers lined up to connect with their young partners. Though a few kindergarteners were a little nervous and shy at first, warm smiles, quick conversations, and lawn games instantly broke the ice. The highlight of the outdoor meetup was an energetic parachute activity that had both age groups laughing across the field, followed by the seniors presenting each kindergartener with a keepsake keychain.

The event was a resounding success that left a lasting impression on both ends of the age spectrum. Teachers noted that their kindergarteners returned to class declaring it "the best day ever" and raving about the parachute fun and their new custom keychains. The high schoolers were equally impacted—many seniors admitted they loved the keepsake keychains so much they wanted to keep one for themselves! The positive energy left older students eager to turn this initial kickoff into a full-year mentorship program.

Looking ahead, Pierz Schools plans to nurture this connection through classroom visits and joint activities across the upcoming terms. The year-long partnership will come full circle at the end of the school year when both groups meet back on the football field for graduation, where the young "Sprouts" will return the favor by presenting the graduating seniors with keychains of their own to celebrate their accomplishments.
