Ill Student
If a student is displaying COVID symptoms, 1 major (cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste and smell, fever over 100.4) or 2 minor symptoms (sore throat, fatigue, body aches, congestion, runny nose, headache, nausea or vomiting) please keep them home. Siblings may come to school if they are well. Testing is strongly encouraged. Rapid test kits are available through school - please keep your student home and contact Robyn Skwira at rskwira@pierz.k12.mn.us or 320-468-6458 x2213 to set up the pick up of a test kit. Kits are to be taken home, and are only for symptomatic students.
Close Contact
exposed to a positive case, and the case does NOT live in the home:
Close contact may attend only if they are 100% symptom free. Testing is strongly recommended after 5 days of exposure to rule out infection. Rapid test kits are available for close contacts who are symptomatic - please request via email or phone and do not come into the building if you have symptoms. If asymptomatic, a send out (not rapid) test should be obtained from your medical provider or a test center.
Ill Family member
If a family member has COVID symptoms but has not yet tested positive, students may come to school if they are well.
Positive CasesStudent Positive
A positive student must be out of school for 10 full days - day zero being the date that symptoms began or date of test if asymptomatic, returning on day 11.
Family member positive
7 Day return
Students may return after 7 full days (day 0 is the first day of exposure, return on day 8) if all of the following criteria are met.
*PCR test on or after day 5 of exposure
*100% symptom free
*PCR test is negative
10 day Return
Students may return after 10 full days (day 0 is the first day of exposure, return on day 11) if they are 100% symptom free without a test.
Fully Vaccinated
If a student is fully vaccinated, and lives in the same home as a positive case, they may still come to school as long as they are 100% symptom free.
If at any time, a student becomes symptomatic, please keep them home. Rapid test kits are available through school by contacting Robyn Skwira via phone or email.
